Reading Spine
In 2023, we introduced a Reading Spine across the school from Nursery to Year 6. This was to ensure that we had a structured set of books that all children will read or hear over their time at Cleadon C of E Academy. The Reading Spine was created as a staff team with input from the children on their favourite stories. The spine supports age appropriate language and vocabulary development and also has a range of books that reinforce the teaching of diversity, bullying, SEND and different types of families.
These books are read to the children at story time and are available for the children to take home from the school library as part of their weekly reading provision.
